Obituary for Katharina Boettcher
Katharina Hilda Ursula Boettcher, (30th Nov. 1932 – 10th March 2018) -
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, 10th March 2018 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto, in her 86th year. Beloved wife of the late Pastor Alfred L. Boettcher for 54 years. Loving mother of Andreas (and his wife Noriko) and John (and his wife Kimiko). Dear Oma of Christian, Elizabeth, and Alexander. Sister of the late Dieter Munkewitz. Katharina, was born in what became Communist East-Germany after the war, fled to West Germany in 1953 during the aftermath of the anti-Communist uprising, immigrated to Canada in 1960 from Germany, and subsequently spent 28 years as a missionary in Japan with her husband, Alfred, who passed away in 2011.
After retiring in 1995 from the mission field, she returned to Canada with her husband and enjoyed joining services and senior events primarily at German-speaking churches in Toronto. She cared lovingly for her extended family and will be sadly missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Friday, 16th March 2018 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. , with an ensuing funeral service at 11:00a.m. at the Humbervale Park Baptist Church, 763 Royal York Rd, Etobicoke, ON M8Y 2T3. Reception in the church hall will follow the interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation, and/or a church or charity of your choice would also be welcomed.
