Wilson Warren

December 1, 1940 - May 4, 2023

We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, Wilson Warren. On May the 4th, 2023 after 82 years of life, he left this world in search of new adventures.  After a lengthy battle with cancer, his work here on earth came to an end while surrounded by love and at peace.

He was born on the "rock" and "down the coast" in Grey Rivers, Newfoundland. Wilson spent many years in Burgeo Newfoundland and later made his way to Ontario where he called his home for many decades. Dad lived life to the best of his ability inspiring messages of forgiveness and hope and living One Day at a Time.

Wilson's 5 children, Charles (Viola), Colleen, Linda (Roy), Christine (Andrew) and Stuart (Jody) mourn the loss of their father / father-in-law, cherish his memory and his life. Wilson was also blessed with 9 grandchildren (Chrissy, Clayton, Patricia, Jasleen, Natasha, Derek, Mathew, Austin, Casey and 1 his very special sister Betty, who at 92 years young remembers her "little brother" with great fondness. Wilson also leaves behind 5 great grandchildren (Collena, Callen, Abigail, Amelia and Madeline) and his many nieces and nephews. Wilson is predeceased by his father (Wilson Sr.), his mother (Mary Ann), brothers (John Robert & Charles) and his sisters (Francis, Sarah & Survived by Betty). 

Life presents us all with challenges and obstacles along the way. Wilson met those challenges head-on with determination and perseverance. His proudest and most profound accomplishment was his sobriety AND what he did with that victory. Wilson celebrated 38 years of sobriety. As an active and continuous member of AA, he counseled, encouraged and guided countless others towards their pilgrimage through his example. This monumental task is admired and respected by his family, friends, peers and others currently facing their own paths. Achieving sobriety is an extraordinary success, sharing it selflessly with others is a gift. A gift that will keep on giving through his memory and through the ongoing work of his admirers. 

To honour Wilson and his memory, please do what Wilson would do. Give to others! A donation to a charity of your choice in his name close to you, say a prayer or visit someone in need. Wilson was touched by the community groups and services that he attended. Hospice Vaughan took excellent care of him in his final hours. The Salvation Army has always been close to his heart. As a Soldier of the Salvation Army, Wilson has been "Promoted to Glory" where he will continue to serve and oversee his family here on earth.

The family is grateful for the incredible Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers and entire Medical and Support Teams at Princess Margaret, Toronto General and St Joseph's Hospitals as well as Hospice Vaughan. We are also grateful to the many friends and associates of Wilson's extended neighbourhood community.  

Visitation & Funeral will be held at the G.H. Hogle Funeral Home, 63 Mimico Ave., Toronto on Thursday, May 11th from 1:00pm - 2:30pm followed by a funeral service at 2:30pm.
