Obituary for MARY BEATTIE

With heavy Hearts we announce the passing of our Mom, Mary-Susan Beattie.
Mary-Susan passed away suddenly at home on April 4th, 2023.
Now reunited with her husband, Ralph Beattie, loving Mother of Mark (Marissa) and Scott (Shannon), and adoring Grandma to Quinn.
Daughter of the late Kathleen and James Dodge. Dear sister to Janet Hassall (Ted), Lynda Shebylo (predeceased), Kathleen Cooper (John), James Dodge (Karen), and Rosemary Floquet, and loving aunt to many.
Mary was an incredible woman. As a single mother, she raised two boys while balancing a career as an early childhood educator alongside her long-time friend Marilyn. Her dedication to children was reflective of her caring and compassionate nature. Mary was always so proud of Mark and Scott; seeing them grow up and find their way, finding success in their careers, and then starting their own families. Mary always welcomed her sons' friends into her home, and never complained when the visits turned into late nights and early mornings on the back patio as Mark and Scott went through their teenage years.
In 2011, Mary made the difficult decision to sell her Etobicoke home and move to Collingwood. Mary's new home quickly became a lodging for her kids (and their friends) during the ski season. Mary was keen to join many clubs and easily made new friends. She often took monthly trips back to the city for lunch and to attend the theatre to see a Mirvish show.
One of Mary's favourite things was travelling to Maine for an annual family vacation with her boys to Old Orchard Beach/Ocean Park.
She also loved spending quality time with her dear friends Robin, Mary, Monica and many others.
In 2021, Mary received the greatest gift of all: her granddaughter, Quinn. Quinn instantly became the apple of Mary's eye and she loved every minute they spent together.
Although Mary left us too soon, her loving spirit and memory will live on with those whom she loved.

Friends will be received at the G.H. Hogle Funeral Home, 63 Mimico Ave., Etobicoke on Friday April 14th from 7 – 9 p.m. and Saturday April 15th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.  Donations in Mary-Susan’s name may be made to the Daily Bread Food Bank or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
