God called Luzviminda on March 27, 2023 at the age of 79.  Darling wife to Amando she will be missed by Lara and Don Davidson, Dwight and July Osias, Larissa and Scott Moncrief, D’Arcy, Neziah, Aoibhin, Josiah and Jackson. Born and raised in the Philippines she is reunited in heaven with her parents Pedro and Ledelia de los Trinos, brother Dr. Isagani Sr, twin sister Melba and sister Deborah.  She leaves behind Dr. Pedro de los Trinos Jr (Nenette), Elma Loterte, Evangeline Villanueva (Rudy), Susan Dizon (Fred), and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews in Canada, the United States, the Philippines, Europe and the Middle East.

In 1955 Dorothy Jeffries, a young missionary from Canada stayed with Barrio Captain, Pedro de los Trinos and his family.  Young Minda was captivated by Dorothy and her life of nursing in Canada. In spite of her parents insistence to follow the foot steps into teaching, like her two aunts Minda decided to forge her own path.  She graduated from St. Rita College of Nursing, Manila and began her nursing career in Canada.  Arriving in the middle of a cold 1965 winter at Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan.  In Saskatchewan she worked at the Paradise Hill Hospital and Saskatoon Hospital.  In 1967 she achieved her second dream, joining the RCAF, where she was a Nursing Sister.  She was stationed at CFB Borden, Sunnybrook Hospital, Kingston and Hamilton.  Always following her adventurous spirit, Minda even ventured further east enjoying a trip with her nursing friends to the Montreal Expo 1967!  Although she met Manding in high school, it would take meddling and matchmaking by friends to get this energetic and ‘galivanting gal’ to settle down.  In 1968 Manding and Minda married and started their family in Toronto.  Minda worked at Sunnybrook Hospital before the family journeyed to California, where she worked at Doctor’s Hospital of Modesto.  After returning to Canada they settled in Etobicoke.  Minda would re-join the nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, where she would retire in 2003.

Retirement at 60 did not mean Minda would slow down.  She visited Church members, friends, family who were shut in or needed any assistance.  If anyone in her circle had a medical appointment or procedure she was by their side.  Nursing was her true calling.

Amando and Minda enjoyed years of travel.  Every decade they would drag their young family to the Philippines to be reunited with family.  They attended several Disciples of Christ Conventions across Canada and the United States and would often visit family along the way.  They also visited family and friends through Europe.  Their last road trip was hitching a ride with the Davidson family to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Minda was a faithful Christian and was a lifelong member of The Disciples of Christ.  First in Santa Rosa, Alaminos Laguna, then at Hillcrest Christian Church where she would be an Elder and active in for decades.  She was proud that their grandchildren are fifth generation Disciples. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.  She was a devoted and caring friend.  When she was at home she’d often be on the telephone or later in life her cell phone, sending birthday greetings, health enquiries or to simply listen.

The family is grateful to the dedicated medical staff and support workers who assisted in the last years of life.  She was able to age at home with dignity, as was her wish.  We cannot express enough appreciation to the steadfast and loyal circle of friends and family who stayed by her side.
