Obituary for VIRGILIO FUOCO

Virgilio Fuoco was born to Antonio Fuoco and Civita Marconi on October 4, 1931, in the town of Mignano, Monte Lungo, in the province of Caserta, Italy. He passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Saturday, January 7th, 2023. Virgilio immigrated to Toronto, Canada on April 9, 1959, where he worked hard to provide for his family.  He took up various jobs in farming and construction, then in 1959 he began working for the Canadian National Railway (CNR) until he retired in January 1994. He was devoted to his profession and was known for his good humour amongst his colleagues.

Virgilio was passionate about working in his garden. He spent many hours tending to his fruits and vegetables, and rearing chickens and rabbits. He was very proud of his homemade wine, sausage, and tomato sauce, and the legacy of these traditions has been passed down to his children and grandchildren.

Loving husband of Pierina. Proud father of Mary, Antonio (Tricia), John (Annette). Cherished grandfather of Stephanie, Daniel, Michael, Laura, Anikka and Kylia. Survived by his sibling Mario (Gemma). Predeceased by his siblings Domenico (Crescenza), Angela (Antonio), Giuseppe (Maria), and Olimpa (Mattia). He will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews in both Italy and Canada.

Virgilio and Pierina were married for almost 60 years. He loved and looked out for his family and always gave the world to his grandchildren. His wish was to die at home. Pierina selflessly cared for his needs and well-being these last several months. Thank you to the various Nurses and Personal Support Workers for providing exceptional care during his final months.
