Obituary for LISE CHENGKAION (Lam Po Tang)

Lise (Ahmee) Chengkaion passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the age of 75.

Beloved wife of Albert (Anam) for 50 golden years and loving mother of Natalie and Melanie and their partners Curtis and Dave. Her grandchildren Katalina, Jayda, Mackenzie and Clark were her pride and joy and loved her dearly. She will be missed by her 18 siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Food was Lise’s language of love. It was her way of showing her care for her loved ones and a means to nurture and bring family together. A social butterfly by nature, she cherished memories she made at her condo from Chinese New Year parties at the Malibu Club to acquafit classes and walks with her friends and family on the waterfront.

Lise will be remembered for her endless energy, kindness, generosity, warm smile, charm, and good nature. She always had a welcoming home and an open heart.

A private memorial service will be held on July 23, 2022 by invitation only.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Cancer Foundation for lung cancer research:

Mom, you are now free as a bird. Rest in peace.

Time to Fly Away by Robert Longley
To soar and float and flutter
A gentle bird I’d be
To grace the clouded mountains
Or fly over the salted sea
No more tied to substance
That makes up whom we are
It’s but little bits of nature
That can fit within a jar
I am now more than all of this
I’ve found a new resolve
To seek the boundless universe
And it’s mysteries to solve
For it’s time to fly away
I’m off to see the universe
Until we meet again someday
