Obituary for ELISABETTA POLICELLI
Surrounded by her family, Elisabetta Policelli passed peacefully at home on June 11, 2022 at age 88. She was born in Roseto Valfortore, Italy on December 8, 1933. She was predeceased by her loving husband Francesco. She will be sadly missed by her children Lucy (Terry Simpson), Tina (Luigi Salandra) and Lina (Joe Cataudella). Affectionately remembered by her grandchildren Elisa (Marco), Anthony (Amanda), Laura, Matthew, Christopher, Alessia and Christian. Loved also by her great grandchildren Liana and Noah. Elisabetta was deeply devoted to her faith and her church community at Holy Angels. Her family takes comfort in knowing she has been embraced by her heavenly Father.
Elisabetta took pleasure in tending to her garden, greeting her neighbours from her veranda, and reading her favourite books. She enjoyed watching Italian cooks like Lidia and Gianni Ceschia, as well as laughing along with the reality TV shows on RAI. Her greatest pleasure, however, was eating McDonald’s french fries with a generous dose of ketchup.
Mamma, come sempre dicevamo. . . ti vogliamo bene assai, assai, assai!
Family and friends will be received at G. H. Hogle Funeral Home, 63 Mimico Ave., Etobicoke on Thursday and Friday from 5- 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Angels Church, 61 Jutland Ave., Etobicoke on Saturday at 9 a.m. Entombment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens.
Donations if desired can be made to SickKids Hospital and Operation Smile Canada, two organizations close to Elisabetta’s heart.
Elisabetta loved St. Anthony and her passing on his feast weekend was special. We know he came to bring her to heaven himself. Our mother has been preparing for this destination her whole life.
