Obituary for ANNA MARIA ALBRECHT

September 3, 1937 - June 10, 2022

In her 85th year, Anna passed peacefully at home with her loving son, Hunter, by her side.

Anna leaves behind her true joys in life, her sons, Rod Albrecht (predeceased), Hunter Albrecht (Stacey Boyd) and Dean Albrecht and her cherished grandchildren, Tyler Albrecht (Hunter and Tracey Albrecht) and granddaughters Savannah and Haley Albrecht (Dean Albrecht and Terri Horne).

Anna was born in Manitoba and moved frequently due to her late husband’s, JI Albrecht, career. From Montreal to California, Boston and finally settling in Mississauga where she raised her children as a stay- at-home mom until they went off to college or started building their careers. It was at this time that she started her own career, first as a real estate agent, eventually taking on an office job and her final career working at Fresh Start where she spent over 20 years working alongside her son, Rod, and so many wonderful friends who she called family. In true Anna style, she took on the role of making sure everyone was cared for. Her heart was full when she was inviting the young kids at the office to join the family for Christmas or bringing everyone together to enjoy a home cooked meal. She was a wonderful cook and would spend days preparing gourmet dishes to take to office get togethers. She cared deeply for the community, and often shared wonderful stories of the people she met along the way.

Anna’s grandchildren were the light of her life. They benefitted greatly from her care, and there is no doubt they know their Nana loved them dearly. She lived with Hunter and Tracey in Oakville for a few years taking care of Tyler and in Florida with Dean and Terri when Savannah and Haley were babies. They could do no wrong in her eyes.

Anna had a curious mind and passion for art and gardening. You could find her relaxed reading the latest biography or out in the sunshine getting her well-manicured nails dirty in the soil. She loved seeing her flowers come to life and, not being able to get out in the garden recently, Hunter made sure she had pictures of her flowers by her side. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips across Canada and the USA, visiting her family in Florida or a beach vacation with her husband or friends. Jumping in the car for family road trips are memories her boys will forever cherish. She was a glamorous lady who enjoyed beauty and fashion but never hesitated to help catch a frog or bait a hook with a worm.

We miss her dearly and will keep our wonderful memories close in our hearts!

Please join us on June 25th at Hogle Funeral Home, 63 Mimico Avenue, Etobicoke, Ontario, M8V 1R2, for a celebration of Anna’s life. Visitation will take place from 11:00am – 12:00pm followed by a memorial service and reception starting at 12:00pm
