Baldwin, Frederick James Albert

February 18, 1943 – September 15, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Frederick James Albert. Fred passed surrounded and comforted by his devoted wife, Debra, his 3 beloved daughters Lori, Melissa and Aimee and his grandson Joseph.

To try and sum up Fred's life in a couple of paragraphs would be impossible. He weaved himself into many different relationships and friendships and donned many hats in his lifetime. Most notably, his years as a Metro Toronto paramedic and a Union Steward where he made many lifelong friends. More recently, he took great pride in his work as Santa Claus. There were thousands of people who adored him in that role, and he will live on in the special connections and the magic that he created. He was also an entrepreneur and engaged in many business ideas; Bubble Gum Man, pizza maker, booze delivery, home renovator and the list goes on.

Fred was never afraid of a challenge or hard work and was always willing to try something new and would devote himself to any endeavour that came his way.

However, the one constant in Fred's incredible life journey was that he was a Family Man first. The enduring love he had for his family and friends was unquestionable. He made sure each and every person he knew felt incredibly special, unique and loved.

His remarkable life and legacy have now been passed on to his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchild, sister, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins and all his friends.

We will miss him immensely and we will never forget him!

The family will be having a private service and will provide details regarding a celebration of life at a later date.

My condolences to the whole family. Fred was my Dad Allan's first friend when he moved to Canada and like a brother to my Dad (The Baldwin Family was like a second Family to my Dad). As a child I remember going over to visit and hearing all the stories about Fred and my Dad. Fred made a lasting impression on my children after they first met him as they came home excited to tell me that their Papa was good friends with Santa and that Santa was a really cool guy. I have some many fond memories of you that I will forever cherish.

Papa Fred always knew how to make anyone smile. He knew that I loved writing and got me three type writers. We were going to make a Christmas story together. I remember when I wanted to get a Guinea pig and he drove me to every pet store around looking for one. He was the best papa.

I had the pleasure and honour to be able to see Uncle Fred almost weekly for the last 20 years or so as he and the other Baldwin brothers would gather at my parents house every single Friday. He never failed to make me laugh every single time I saw him. He was so many things to so many different people but to me he was an uncle, a friend, a rock, laughter, kindness and the definition of selfless love. He would do anything for his family. He was simply the best. There are no words to define how much I will miss him or how big of a piece of my heart was broken by this loss, but I know he is waiting on the other side with a joke and a story and one day we will catch up like no time has passed at all. Love you always Uncle Fred.

Our condolences to the whole family. As a friend of Melissa’s, it was so clear he was so loved as we would hear stories and memories with such endearment. Santa will live on in so many children’s memories as they got to share their dreams and wishes with him as he dawned his red suit at our annual school Christmas festival. They were all so lucky for this.
Love and comfort to you all, Elaine and Scott Mount
