I will always remember Helen for many reasons and one of them was her teaching me about transferable skills 18 years ago before it was a "thing". The City of Toronto, Social Services was hiring Administrative Assistants and Helen, my neighbour at the time, advised me of the job openings. When she showed me the job posting, I adivsed her that I did not have the required qualifications. However, Helen knew where I worked and what I did and showed me how to re-word a lot of my qualificaitons. She helped me realize that I did have the qualifications and encouraged me to apply. I applied, was accepted and I will always remember that Helen Bailey showed me a path out of poverty. Thank you Helen.
