Obituary for Margaret Thompson



"Margaret Jamieson Thompson passed away at the Humber River Hospital on August 5, 2017.

Peggy was born in Greenock, Scotland on February 24, 1928, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (née Dickie) Thompson. She built a career at Crown Life Insurance, and was a longstanding volunteer and supporter of the Canadian Opera Company and the National Ballet Company of Canada.

While her memory was stolen by dementia, Peggy is remembered with love and respect by her sisters, SarahBeattie and May McIntyre, her brother-in-law Don Wakefield, her nieces and nephews Janice and Eric Brown, Evelyn (Karl) Scott-Ludwig, Mary (Don Taylor) McIntyre, Ian (Jennifer) McIntyre, Paul (Irina Marga) McIntyre, David (Wendy) Wakefield and Mark (Jennifer) Wakefield; and by her great-nieces and -nephews.

Peggy was predeceased by her sisters, Anne (Nan) Platt Scott and Elizabeth (Betty) Wakefield, her brothers-in-law Victor Scott and David Beattie, and by her beloved friend Margo Chadwick.

A memorial of Peggy's life will be held at G.H. Hogle Funeral Home, 63 Mimico Avenue, Etobicoke, on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Pine Hills Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Peggy may be made to the National Ballet of Canada, the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, or to a charity of one's choice.
