Obituary for Gary Wayne Matheson

Gary Wayne Matheson
July 5, 1945 - July 10, 2017 - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Wayne Matheson. Following a courageous battle with cancer, Gary passed peacefully on July 10, 2017 at The Dorothy Ley Hospice Centre in Etobicoke.

Gary was born on July 5, 1945 to James Elmer Matheson and Mary Jane (nee Quigley) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was baptized as a young adult at Fallingbrook Baptist Church. He attended Malvern Collegiate Institute. He worked for the CNN railway then pursued his passion for home renovations.

Gary was predeceased by his father, James Elmer Matheson and his half-sister Victoria Fall. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving partner of 44 years, William O'Sullivan, his mother Mary Matheson, brother Garth Earl Matheson (Arlene), sister Beulah Marshall (Allan), brother Glenn Ernest Matheson (Victoria), sister-in-law Trudy Matheson, many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

Gary was the best son a mother could ever hope for. He was a kind, lovely, compassionate brother who always looked out for his siblings and relatives. Gary was very personable and kept many life-long friendships. He was the type of person who would do anything for you that he could. Gary enjoyed attending arts, cultural events and was an avid traveler.

Although our lives will never be the same, we find comfort in knowing that you are now at peace. Rest in peace Gary. You will live on forever in our hearts and will be sadly missed.

Gary chose not to have a funeral but Donations may be made to The Dorothy Ley Hospice Centre, 220 Sherway Dr, Etobicoke, On, M9C 0A7
