Obituary for Mary Ann Banisch

Mary Ann Jane Banisch (nee Hawkins) - (March 20,1936-January 16, 2017) Mary Ann passed surrounded by her loving family after a short struggle with stage IV lung cancer. A good friend and wife to the late Theodore, loving mother to Jo-Ann (Paul), Joe (Lisa), and Nanny to her five grandchildren Hope, Noah, Miles, Meghan, and Emma. She will remain forever in our hearts. Mary Ann received her 10 year service award at Sheridan Villa from the Region of Peel in 2002. After retirement, she dedicated her time and talent to her community, in which she received recognition from the Government of Canada for her outstanding service and contributions, as well as from the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank for over 2500 hours of service in 10.5 years, including an award for volunteer excellence, and volunteer of the Year. She enjoyed leisure swimming at both Gus Ryder and Alderwood pools. A good friend and always available to assist close friends (Veronica, John and Bruce), and kind neighbours in her condominium community. Her friendship will be greatly missed by all. Thank you to the doctors at Credit Valley Hospital and Dorothy Ley Hospice especially Dr. Hamrahi, her nurse Sofia, and personal support worker Pacita for their outstanding care and compassion. Mary Ann requested cremation with no memorial service. A Private family interment has taken place, but if friends and family would like to visit Mary's final resting place , they may do so at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 6933 Tomken Rd, Mississuaga, Section 7, Grave 82, Range 2A.
