The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dorothy Wheeler can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: John and Greta Tanner
Condolence: Our deepest sympathies to the Wheeler family for your loss. Always enjoyed a nice chat with Dorothy in the neighbourhood. Those long ago chick bonding parties were memorable and got to know her better. A big loss to our village.

Condolence: Dorothy was a most cherished colleague in Toronto Public Health where she took me under her wing and made work life more than enjoyable. We had numerous adventures including dancing around a tree in the moonlight at Grindstone Island when at a women's health conference. And choosing a hot pink paint colour for our office wall at city hall in the early 1980's- the cleaning lady said the colour reminded her of cheap hotels back in her homeland!

Dorothy nurtured my love of gardening, and generously loaned me her beautiful Irish Shop linen jacket for every wedding I attended for years on end. She was an inspiration who cared deeply about her family, friends and community.

Condolence: I also met Dorothy through Oxford Church Music in Oxford and then joined she and Penny in Rome and Venice and was so blessed by her enthusiasm and love for adventure. Dorothy was so intelligent and inspiring as she shared stories from a life well-lived. Her influence and good sense were pervasive in all she undertook and her love of her family was stellar. Really, Dorothy Wheeler will always be remembered by anyone she called her friend. When my son, Jeffrey, graduated from Theatre School at George Brown, Dorothy and Penny came to his final performance and graduation dinner with me. They made a memorable occasion even more memorable by their presence. My thoughts are with you as you remember your remarkable wife, Mother and family member. Her beautiful light will continue to shine in everyone who has been touched by her.

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to Ken and Dorothy's family. Dorothy, Mamie and I traveled together in Italy years ago. It was then that I truly appreciated her sense of adventure and keen interest to learn new things. Dorothy was a generous and compassionate person who worked to make a difference in personal or political ways as able. A true LAMP-ling leader lost.
I am sorry to hear of her passing. My thoughts are with you now.

Condolence: Dear Ken. Barbara and I were very saddened to hear about the death of Dorothy. Please be assured of our prayers and love for you and your family at this time. I have many fond memories of our time together at Christ Church St. James a few years ago. You and Dorothy were most helpful and supportive of my ministry there. God bless and keep you at this time. Love in Jesus, Don

Condolence: I was a colleague of Dorothy's at Toronto Public Health. Dorothy was such a pleasure to work with. She always had a ready smile and kind word and worked with such creative approaches for her clients. I am so sorry to hear of her passing and will definitely provide a donation to Dorothy Ley Hospice in honour of my fond memories of Dorothy upon my return to Toronto in June. My condolences to her family. Chris.

Condolence From: Penny Potter
Condolence: Dorothy was a wonderful travel companion, and we enjoyed many good times travelling with friends through Oxford Church Music. Our last trip together was to Dublin, again with OCM but this time with Margot along to chaperone us. Dorothy made friends wherever she went, flashing that great smile and chatting with everyone.

To Ken and their family, thank you for sharing Dorothy with all of us.

With love and sympathy,
Penny Potter
